Empowering Youth Through Education

Gemma Jimenez

Alumni Ambassadors' Partnerships Representative

Gemma Jimenez was born and raised in the City of Angels. She attended local public schools (LASUD) and graduated from Los Angeles High School in 2002. With the support of her family, teachers, counselors and the Fulfillment Fund she went away to college. She attended the University of California Davis and earned a degree in Sociology and Chicana/o Studies. Not knowing the career she wanted to pursue after college she had the opportunity to intern during her years at UC Davis. She was fortunate to get an internship at the California State Capitol under the administration of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. After 6 months as an intern she was offered a full time position; and the rest is history. The internship was the first step she would take in joining the field of government/politics; and she’s enjoyed every minute of it.

Gemma currently resides in Los Angeles and has worked for California State Senator Alex Padilla for the past seven years. Although she was working full-time, she was able to obtain her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from CAL State Dominguez Hills in 2011.

Senator Padilla is currently running for California Secretary of State and has Gemma working as his Campaign Coordinator full-time. So please don’t forget to vote on November 4, 2014 for Alex Padilla for Secretary of State.
