CONGRATS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES!
On June 6th, over 350 Fulfillment Fund high school seniors were invited to celebrate their graduation at the California Science Center’s Annenberg Building, a space devoted to inquiry and learning.  This is cause for celebration in a district where the graduation rate is below 50%! Following a formal dinner, Andrea Cockrum spoke on behalf of the organization’s staff and supporters. “Graduates, you have reached a huge milestone.  This is an extraordinary time in your life as you move forward toward a college degree.  You should have great expectations for what lies ahead of you. It is now up to you to create a life that is meaningful and filled with helping others.”

STUDENT-MENTOR TEAMS
TOUR COLLEGES

In May, 17 mentoring students visited the campus of UC Santa Barbara with their mentors. This was not only an opportunity for students to sample college life, but also offered exposure to a community outside of the Los Angeles area. These young scholars got to experience UC Santa Barbara firsthand: touring the campus and housing facilities, enjoying a meal in one of the dining halls, and meeting with a Fulfillment Fund student who is currently a junior at UCSB.

Though still in the nascent stages, the effort is examining how to support disadvantaged students beginning with early-childhood education, and continuing through college. “Graduation will be one of the biggest days in my life. Being first generation in my family to not only graduate from high school but soon from college, my parents and relatives will be very proud of my accomplishments.” - Jorge
