Empowering Youth Through Education

Janet Sarver

Mentor Program AdvisorJanet Sarver, Mentor Program Advisor

Janet joined the Fulfillment Fund in July 1995.  A Mentor Program Advisor for 20 years, Janet has been able to support and guide countless teams of mentors and students to successful relationships.  Those relationships have helped to make college a possibility for hundreds of students.  As a Mentor Program Advisor, Janet interviews students and mentors, trains students, mentors and parents, matches students with mentors and provides ongoing support for 50 mentor/student teams.

A big believer in the value of community service, she especially enjoys introducing mentors and students to volunteer events in Los Angeles, including the Los Angeles River Clean Up, Big Sunday, Coastal Clean Up Day, Aids Walk and National Public Lands Day.

Prior to the Fulfillment Fund, Janet was the head teacher in an LAUSD-funded “dropout recovery” program, for the nonprofit Latin American Civic Association, helping junior high and high school dropouts, many of whom were gang members, return to regular school.

Janet has a BA in three-dimensional art from California State University, Northridge.
