Empowering Youth Through Education

Yliana Gomez

Mentor Program College Counselor

Yliana Gomez joined the Fulfillment Fund in February 2017. As a Mentor Program College Counselor, Yliana will work with high school juniors and seniors to provide them with college plans through one-on-one counseling sessions.

As a first-generation college student from an underrepresented and underserved community, Yliana became passionate about providing educational access to students from a similar background. During her undergraduate studies, Yliana had the opportunity to be a college advisor for students across LAUSD through the Early Academic Outreach Program and the UCLA After School Program. This experience fueled her passion for educational justice and motivated her to pursue a masters degree in education. She relocated to New York City and there she had the opportunity to work with at-risk youth from the Harlem community. Yliana is excited to join the Fulfillment Fund as it will allow her to continue empowering youth from underrepresented backgrounds and encourage them to accomplish their goals.

A South Los Angeles native, Yliana attended UCLA where she earned a B.A. in Music History and a minor in Education Studies. She went on to earn an M.A. in Education Policy and Social Analysis from Columbia University.
